Our customer bought a standard, but rather tired, 1983 911 3.0 SC. Originally a Guards Red 'impact bumper' car with a whale tail and sunroof, his plan was to hotrod it: long bonnet, turbo arches, bucket seats, rollover bar, centre exit exhaust, 'minilite' wheels and a 'double bubble' roof. This photo sequence takes you from 'before' 'to 'after', via the fabrication and paint stages. In the second picture below, the car has been taken back to bare metal and had turbo arches added. In the photo, the rear bumper is being flared to match the arches. The third picture shows the new paint colour - Polo Red - and the double bubble roof. The final picture shows the finished state, with a pair of Light Ivory stripes (edged with gold pinstripes) over the bonnet, roof and engine lid. What can't be seen is the fully detailed and uprated engine, backdated interior, new Bilstein suspension and that it's 70kg lighter than before - in other words, a true hotrod.
